Modeling and Optimization Engineer
You're both an expert in optimization modeling and a savvy programmer.
We are looking for a Modeling and Optimization Engineer who will be responsible for developing, scaling, and accelerating our models of urban energy infrastructure. These models are primarily, but not exclusively, mathematical optimization models. The role requires writing efficient code in both domain-specific and general-purpose languages.

You also provide technical support and expertise to commercial team members and users, respond to user feedback, and assist with sales presentations and demonstrations. With an application-centric mindset, and outstanding abstraction skills, you rely on user requirements and product vision to elevate Urbio's Generative Design engine.

develop algorithms and models of energy supply systems and distribution networks

employ and build upon our software stack for the processing and storage of model inputs and outputs

participate in the product development with your technical expertise

deliver clean and maintainable code

be an active member of a growing software development team and exchange regularly

Qualifications
​
For this position you need to...
-
have 3+ years of experience in formulating and implementing computational models of technical and/or economic principles
-
have a strong background in mathematical optimization (OR, MILP, ...) and a corresponding language (ideally JuMP, alternatively AMPL, GAMS, ...)
-
have good knowledge of Julia or alternatively several other programming languages that allow you to learn Julia very quickly
-
have experience or at least a strong interest in writing SQL queries
-
have developed software in a team and acquired the corresponding mindset and skills (agile processes, git, ...)
-
have a good command of English

You’re a great fit if you...

have a solid background in energy-aspects of buildings, notably thermal and/or electric supply and distribution systems

have experience with Machine Learning

have a Swiss working permit or be eligible to work in Switzerland
