Urbio has been selected as one of the 100 most impactful innovations worldwide in the 2024 Global Trends report published by 2050NOW La Maison (Groupe Les Echos–Le Parisien), founded notably by BNP Paribas, Engie, and Veolia. This recognition from leading actors in the industry highlights Urbio’s role in accelerating the transition toward a net-zero built environment through data-driven energy intelligence.

The distinction follows a large-scale international analysis of more than 3,000 innovations across all continents and industries, from which only 100 were chosen for their capacity to transform society and drive sustainable development.
Leveraging AI to Decarbonize Buildings Profitably
Featured in the report’s “Scale Up the Future” section, Urbio is presented as a pioneering solution tackling one of the largest contributors to global carbon emissions: buildings. The platform is described as a “Google Maps of Energy”, leveraging generative AI to deliver building-scale energy intelligence and automate the design of renewable energy systems including district heating networks and heat pumps.
The report underscores how Urbio enables utilities, energy consultants, municipalities and real estate professionals to identify the most efficient decarbonization strategies—whether at the scale of a single building, an entire portfolio, or a whole city.
Part of a Global Movement for Climate Solutions
Urbio’s selection places the company alongside other breakthrough climate innovations, from carbon-negative materials to direct air capture technologies. Titled “Sustainability in Progress: Scale Up the Future,” the 2024 Global Trends report explores how sustainable innovations can scale successfully while staying true to their environmental and social mission.
The report emphasizes that long-term impact depends on strong technological foundations, strategic partnerships, talented teams, and clear alignment with sustainable development goals—pillars that closely reflect Urbio’s own approach to transforming energy planning in the built environment.
Nicolas Sommer, co-founder and CCO of Urbio, presents Urbio's solution and traction with customers across Europe on stage in Paris.
